Videos now displayedPosted on 8 September 2009 | 4:23 am Picasa lets you upload video, and now you can play your videos in Picasa Tab! The new Picasa Tab is much, much fasterPosted on 1 September 2009 | 12:53 pm As you may know, I launched a new version of Picasa Tab a few days ago. Some of the first numbers are in, and the new application has much lower response times than the old application. This means that pages load much faster. Perhaps as a result, pageviews are up, meaning that you're looking at more photos. I also have some interesting numbers about what percentage of time you spend on photo pages versus album pages, and I'll tell you about those later. Albums now paginatedPosted on 1 September 2009 | 11:54 am Have a lot of photos in your album? Now albums are split into pages, displaying 20 photos at a time. Facebook users do not need to add Picasa Tab to view another Facebook user's Picasa albums and photos in Picasa TabPosted on 29 August 2009 | 12:55 pm Previously, Facebook users needed to add Picasa Tab to view another Facebook user's Picasa albums and photos in Picasa Tab. This was a bug, but it persisted for a long time. With the new version launched today, users do not need to add Picasa Tab to view your albums and photos. Of course, that Facebook user must have permission to see your Picasa albums and photos. For more information, see the Privacy FAQ. New Version launched!Posted on 29 August 2009 | 12:50 pm Today we are launching version 2 of the application. Except for allowing Facebook users to view another user's Picasa albums and photos in Picasa Tab, most users will not notice the difference. But under the hood, the application has been completely rewritten. This will make it easier to add new features in the future. For the technically inclined, Picasa Tabis now written in Python using the Django 1.0 library, and is hosted on Google App Engine. Instead of the Facebook datastore, we are using the Google App Engine datastore. To help with Facebook programming, we are using PyFacebook. We are still using the Picasa Web Albums API. |
